WE ARE BACK:
IN-PERSON + ONLINE
ASHEVILLE, N.C., August 16, 2020 7:00pm

Dear AVL Family,
We are excited to resume our in person gatherings!
We truly love and are thankful for technology. Because of your continued financial giving, we were able to purchase and be prepared for these uncertain times. Now we are inspiring people all over the world to discover their Maker and all they are made for. As you give, God through you!
With that said, technology will never replace in-person gatherings. It was never meant to because the church is not just about watching a message and listening to music. It's so much more! It's in the gathering, in the serving, in the being united, in ministering one to another. It's in the contributing, in receiving sacraments, in laying on of hands, being blessed and blessing those around us.
The church is not about a physical building but physically gathering around the name of Jesus is a huge part of it. Remember there were 120 people in the rented upper room. The persecuted never ceased gathering but did gather even at the cost of prison and death.
Now, more than ever before, we are looking forward to gathering in-person FOR church, full of expectancy and excitement! So this is an extended invitation and encouragement for you, your family and friends to join us this coming Sunday, August 23rd @ 10:30AM as we resume our in-person gatherings.
We cannot wait to gather with you!

Coronavirus COVID-19 Update:
PAUSING IN-PERSON SERVICES
ASHEVILLE, N.C., August 7, 2020 7:30pm
Dear Church Family:
As cases of COVID-19 have been on the rise in Buncombe County and the surrounding areas recently, your church leadership wants to do all we can to help reduce community spread and keep our faith family, our loved ones, and others - safe and healthy.
We have been made aware that some members of our church have tested positive for COVID-19. While there is no way to know when and where they were originally exposed, there exists the possibility that they were exposed to the virus at church.
Out of an abundance of caution, we will suspend in-person worship services for the next two Sundays.
Here’s the good news: We will still be streaming a message both Sundays at 10:30 am! Join us on August 9 and August 16 on our AVL City Church website, Facebook page, or on YouTube. And since bills continue, if you are able and feel compelled to securely submit your offering online, we would be most appreciative.
The CDC, and we, encourage anyone who comes down with coronavirus symptoms to get tested ASAP, and to quarantine with others in your household until you receive the results. Symptoms can be found on the CDC’s website and can appear 2-14 days after exposure.
If you or your family members have COVID-19, please call or text Rusty Sampson at 865-591-8804. We want to pray for you and help in any way we can.
God is bigger than this pandemic and we trust Him to get us through these challenges. Please diligently keep our church, community, state and country in your prayers during this unprecedented time. Thanks so much, and we look forward to “seeing” you online for the next two Sundays!
And… please remember…

Coronavirus COVID-19 Update:
We have no choice but to SUSPEND ALL GATHERINGS, both large and small, until further notice.
ASHEVILLE, N.C., Mar. 14, 2020 6:00pm
After holding off for as long as we could, we have no choice but to suspend all our gatherings, both large and small. This includes Sunday services, meetings, trainings and Crews (which are our small groups.) Since this is a fluid issue and is changing hour by hour, everything will be suspended until further notice.
We had decided on three criteria’s and one of them was met which was the closing of our schools. After precautions amid the coronovirus outbreak, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper gave that executive order earlier today.
The good news is that we will be LIVE-STREAMING for the very first time!
Plan to join us at 10:30 AM and be sure to share with your family and friends.
Coronavirus COVID-19 Update: We are STILL PLANNING ON HAVING SUNDAY SERVICE with some minor adjustments.
ASHEVILLE, N.C., Mar. 14, 2020 12:00pm
Hey AVL City Church family!
As you are aware, we are closely following the COVID-19 pandemic and have prayerfully decided that, at this moment, Sunday services will continue with modifications previously communicated. To keep everyone safe, people who are sick and/or at higher risk of contracting the virus should stay home.
From the CDC website: Who is at Higher Risk of Getting Very Sick from this Illness?
Older adults and people who have severe chronic medical conditions like heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, and those with weakened immune systems seem to be at higher risk for more serious COVID-19 illness.
If you or your children have any symptoms of being sick, including cold, flu, allergies… especially with a cough, fever, or shortness of breath, please stay home and watch a service online.
Our goal is to continually seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance to keep everyone healthy and safe and we thank you for your assistance! You’re encouraged to make attendance decisions in the best interest of yourself and others.
Just another reminder to wash your hands!! 😊 And regularly continue checking our website for updates as things are rapidly changing.
Coronavirus COVID-19 Update: AVL City Church is currently monitoring the COVID-19 situation. At this time, WE WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE SUNDAY SERVICE with some minor adjustments. If something changes we will let you know.
ASHEVILLE, N.C., Mar. 13, 2020 12:00pm
Hey AVL City Church family!
If you're like most Americans, the one thing that is on many minds is the coronavirus COVID-19 and how it will disrupt life as we know it in the coming days and weeks.
Want to hear some good news? We have a Father who loves us! A Savior who died for us! A Holy Spirit who dwells within us! And faith that will get us through this time of worldly uncertainty.
The Executive Team of AVL City Church is paying close attention to reports and recommendations from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC. We have decided, at this moment, there will be no disruption to our regularly scheduled Sunday services.
We want you to know that the physical, mental and spiritual health of our church family is of the utmost importance to us. As a church, just as we do during flu season, we ask that everyone take their own precautions with sickness and personal hygiene and make decisions that are best for them. We will have hand sanitizer available throughout the building, as well as room to wash hands in the restrooms. We will also wipe down door handles and surfaces in the restrooms and Kids’ area prior to each Sunday morning service.
Here are a few other changes we’re implementing during this time. While there have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus/COVID-19 in our area (Yay!), we agree that it’s important to take measures to prevent it from starting and/or spreading. We will make the following temporary modifications to our normal Sunday morning routine:
-
If you are sick, or your children are sick, especially with a cough, fever or shortness of breath, or if you are considered high-risk for catching the virus, we ask that you please stay home. We encourage you to watch a Sunday service online! Our services are posted on our YouTube channel within a few days after the service. We hope to be live-streaming soon!
-
Since the virus is mainly spread person-to-person, let’s try to limit physical contact. Instead of giving handshakes and hugs (we know it will be hard!!), how about we just give a little fist or elbow bump? It’ll be OK.
-
Please bring your own coffee or tea, as we won’t be serving it on Sunday mornings for a while. We will, however, provide bottled water.
-
We’ll pass on passing the give basket. You can give your offering online at HERE, text an amount to 84321, or put cash or check in the GIVE box at the back of the auditorium.
-
We’re going to spread out the chairs a little more to give everyone some extra space.
We will not be ruled by fear nor will we live in ignorance. We will rely on God’s wisdom and live from His peace. We want everyone to feel safe and to be able to worship free from fear. If there are any changes to our gatherings, we will let you know as soon as we know. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, suggestions, concerns or needs. EMAIL US
We can't wait to see you on Sunday!
